New website up and running
Forgive me for sounding like a proud parent but we are super excited this week as we have just finished our new website and it’s now live and kicking.
After two years of our strange and wonderful holding page, you can check it out at www.lightcollective.net
You could be forgiven for not knowing that we are lighting designers but that’s the plan. It needs some exploration.
We want the site to reflect our belief that light is more than just something we stick in buildings. Working with light is not just what we do as a job, it’s our passion.
We want the website to inspire people so we have created a scrapbook section which is an image board of all the stuff that we think is awesome. Also on our collaboration map, we link to other cool designers around the world that we have worked with.
There are also links to the Social Light Movement and Guerrilla Lighting with open source material to run your own Guerrilla event.
Competition is always present between companies and many consultancies keep secrets. They don’t talk about what they are currently working on or show how they are doing it. We want to be different. We want to share and we want to encourage sharing. So, if anyone wants to send us stuff to post on the scrapbook for all to see, please feel free.
When we started Light Collective, we wrote ourselves a set of 12 rules that we wanted to adhere to in everything we do. Our website covers 9 out of 12:
#1 Be evangelical about light
#2 Innovate
#3 Inspire
#4 Engage
#5 Educate
#6 Encourage collectivism
#7 Share knowledge
#11 Make a dent in the universe
#12 Challenge convention
