MITIE hosts LED lighting seminar

Several retailers and major high street brands attended a seminar-workshop showcasing the latest energy saving LED technology help by MITIE and Philips recently.

The seminar, which took place at Vinopolis in London, included five presentations and five ‘LED experiences’ at five different pods throughout the space.

Each pod was hosted by an LED expert and gave attendees a hands-on demonstration of the different LED technology available as well as an opportunity for discussion and debate. The new to market GU10 and MR16 LED retrofit LEDS were demonstrated on one of the pods.

Speakers and experts also provided top tips on future proofing lighting, the financial payback period following the initial capital investment, carbon savings and advice on whether LED technology should be applied to their estates.

Kerry Sheehan, director of MITIE’s National Mobile Services, who spoke at the event, said: “MITIE has a strong partnership with Philips which meant we were able to demonstrate to our clients the latest energy saving LED products from the dual perspective of manufacturer and lighting services provider.

“At MITIE, we have the ability to consider every element of your lighting from its functionality to the visual impact and style – ensuring that it complements your brand and contributes to your sustainability objectives. Each is important but ensuring that they are intrinsically linked is essential.

“It’s not just about getting access to the technology, but ensuring you understand the applications/facilities and the whole life cycle costs of a lighting scheme. This is where we believe MITIE is different and is what we were trying to communicate through the interactive nature of the event.”
