Philips has launched the upgraded CosmoPolis Xtra lamp, extending lifetime from four to six years and reducing replacement and maintenance costs.

Designed specifically for outdoor lighting, the Philips CosmoPolis Xtra sets new standards in high performance and low operating costs for municipalities. Providing warm white light, the upgraded system offers a significant improvement in lifetime – increasing lamp lifetime by up to 50 per cent, delivering a reliable solution lasting up to 24,000 burning hours. This is particularly important in outdoor lighting, where investments are made for several decades.

CosmoPolis Xtra delivers a performance of up to120 lm/W and is available in 45W, 60W, 90W and 140W. The dimmable system delivers highly efficient warm-white light at a color temperature of 2800K. This is the preferred temperature for outdoor applications, perfect for enhancing the ambience of an outdoor space and creating safety on roads and motorways, and in residential and urban areas.

David Vanbeselaere, Senior Business Development Manager HID Systems, commented: “Many local governments, urban planners and municipalities are under pressure to reduce costs and carbon emissions, while ensuring that safety and atmosphere in towns and cities are not sacrificed. The upgraded CosmoPolis Xtra provides the perfect solution - high quality warm-white light, with the benefit of extended lifespan, meaning that lamps need to be replaced often, reducing maintenance and re-lamping costs. With EU legislation in 2012 phasing out the use of inefficient conventional lighting, the new CosmoPolis Xtra provides an excellent alternative.”
