A subsidiary of China’s largest lighting manufacturer has expanded its UK base near Birmingham.
NVC Lighting Limited, a subsidiary of NVC Lighting Technology based in Southern China, will more than double the size of its UK operation through the expansion.
As a result the company can expand its design, research and development, technical, and assembly capabilities in the UK.
NVC’s UK arm opened in Birmingham in 2009 and supplies commercial, industrial, amenity and exterior lighting products to wholesalers in the UK and Ireland.
From a standing start, the company is due to hit a turnover of £25 million in the UK by the end of December.
Mr Wu, founder and CEO of NVC told Lighting: “The key to our rapid growth is a very strong infrastructure.
“We focus on quality and customer satisfaction. We are always aiming to improve our products in terms of R&D and, because we are the biggest manufacturer in China, we can take advantage of economies of scale to lower prices.”

The company at present has created 70 jobs through the growth of design and assembly operations in the UK.
NVC has plans to move more of the manufacturing processes that are currently carried out in China to its expanded UK base by 2015. By that date it predicts it will have created 250 new jobs.
Gerry Pass, director of NVC UK, said: “We are delighted with the strength of NVC’s performance in the UK.
“With such a strong period of trading over the past three years, we are certainly looking to replicate in the UK the success of our Chinese counterpart.”
