A new global lighting organisation has been launched ‘to act as a global voice for the lighting industry’.

The Global Lighting Association, formerly the Global Lighting Forum, represents the same members as its predecessor, but with a new aim and a broader focus.

The main aim of the organisation is to act as a global voice of the lighting industry through developing, publishing and implementing the position of the industry to influence governments and business.

Jan Denneman, president of the GLA and vice president of Philips Lighting, said: “The rejuvenation of the Global Lighting Association comes at a time when the lighting industry is undergoing massive transformation towards LEDs.

“This new technology provides tremendous new opportunities, and our mission is to promote the use of sustainable, energy efficient lighting solutions.”

  • Am I the only one to have concerns that the president of the GLA is also the Vice President of Philips Lighting, a global manufacturer and supplier?

    Unsuitable or offensive?

I was going to express an interest in joining, but not when the president has his own agenda. One thing in his favour though, he didn't try to conceal it!
