The Department for Communties and Local Government (DCLG) has released its long-awaited consultation on changes to Part L of the Building Regulations.

The document includes proposals to adopt the Lighting Energy Numeric Indicator (LENI) methodology, as campaigned for by Lighting, the SLL, IALD, PLDA and the Lighting Industry Association (LIA).

It also proposes to increase the minimum initial luminaire efficacy from 55 to 60 luminaire lumens per circuit-watt.

The consultation document is available to view online at www.communities.gov.uk/publications/planningandbuilding/brconsultationsection2 where you can also find instructions on how to comment on the proposals.

To view the section relevant to lighting, click on Section two: Proposed Changes to technical guidance and scroll to page 125.

Lighting will do a full report on the suggested amendments in the March issue.
