Andrew Gaved, Editor

Queens Theatre, London

Bruce Munro has completed a project to light the Queens Theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue, London. Producer Cameron Mackintosh saw Bruce Munro’s chandeliers one weekend at The Chapel restaurant in Somerset, and approached him to light the theatre. Munro created two chandeliers, front tier balcony lights and general lighting for the theatre. The outer shell of the building, which was hit by a bomb in 1940, is modern, and the interior is Edwardian. The glass and fibre optic Snowball Chandelier in the first floor bar can be seen from the street and is modern. The central chandelier in the auditorium reflects the Edwardian style.
