Andrew Gaved, Editor

Teatro Alla Scala, Milan

As part of Milan’s Festival of Light, Mario Nanni created La Luce Della Musical: a visual and musical extravaganza projected onto the façade of Milan’s opera house, Teatro Alla Scala.

Giant stacks of books represented knowledge and culture, while other projections included birds flying across the façade and people looking out of La Scala’s windows.

The effect was produced using a product of Nanni’s own creation: the LIV (Lampadima a Immagini Variabili or variable image lamp). The LIV is designed for interiors and exteriors on M4, M44, M444 and M7 light fixtures with customisable content by means of a sophisticated hardware and software system.
