Tree Rings lights the Champs-Élysées

Designed by ACT Lighting Design, Tree Rings is a new light installation along the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

The piece is part ecological lighting scheme, part art installation that transforms over 200 plain trees lining the 2.4km of the avenue. The trees are encircled by three specially created rings of LED lighting, designed to add drama, movement and colour to the natural form of the tree.

By day the inner lights of each ring emit a soft glow and mirror garlands sparkle as they move in the breeze.

At dusk, programmed displays begin, using both the inner and outer lights, continuing until 2am.

The scheme is programmable to create different effects. Shifts in colour and tempo can be used to focus on one tree or to create a sequence or group effect.
